Jane was born on the 28th of October 1939 in Boston, USA. She was born to Ruth Elizabeth who was a nurse and Quigley who was an orthopaedic surgeon. Jane had her education at the Beaver County Day School which was an all-girls school and it was the place where she discovered her interest in theatre and acting. Jane attended Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York where she started concentrating in theatre, computer programming, and mathematics as well. Although Jane failed in her career as an actress earlier when she was in theatre, she was a fabulous actress who shared her room with Hope Cooke the queen escort of Sikkim’s last king. Jane solidified her determination and continued her acting career.

Later the two of them divorced in 1964 and She met Edwin Sherin in Washington for the production of various movies. After seeing each other, Edwin and Jane got married in 1975 and shared three children with each other, Tony, Geoffrey, and Jon. Later Edwin passed away 2017 on the 4th of May aged 87. Jane has been continuously working on stage, theatre and TV as well and during her time he won a number of awards.
