The driver of the truck has been charged with negligent homicide. Jackson’s family is raising money to create a scholarship in his memory. A 22-year-old Texas golfer was killed this week when his vehicle was struck by a truck driven by a 13-year-old. Jackson Zinn was an amateur golfer who helped lead the Lewisville High School golf team to the top of the state rankings before graduating in 2014. While nothing can erase the pain that they are forced to live with following his untimely death, they hope that they can at least hold someone accountable. Given the United States’ extreme youth-skewed demographics, it’s not shocking to read about a fatal crash involving an inexperienced driver. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, in 2010, 10,320 people were killed and 3,331,000 injured as a result of traffic crashes in the U.S., with 1.2 million of those injuries finding themselves categorized as involving “young” drivers aged 16 to 20.
